Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)

Okay, who really didn't like this movie?
I saw it in the theater when it came out and thought back then it was one of the funniest movies I had ever seen.
But not everyone felt that way.
Roger Ebert called it a "scuz-pit of a movie".
Fast Times was written by Cameron Crowe (from his book) and directed by Amy Heckerling.
Crowe went on to do two Oscar winning movies, Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous.
Heckerling did went on to do Johnny Dangerously (1984) and National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985), both of which will show up here soon.
The film starred Sean Penn, Eric Stoltz, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nicolas Cage, Anthony Edwards, Phoebe Cates, Forest Whitaker, and Judge Reinhold.
And of course who can forget the now often parodied Phoebe Cates bikini scene?
It's been done so much the magic has worn off of it.
But at the time, in the theater I actually heard gasps.
