A documentary film directed by Penelope Spheeris, "The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years" was about the Los Angeles heavy metal scene from 1986 to 1988.
The film features interviews with Chris Holmes of W.A.S.P., Riki Rachtman and Taime Downe, Paul Stanley of Kiss, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne among others.
It also has musical performances by Lizzy Borden, Faster Pussycat and Megadeth.
There was a soundtrack album released that included tracks from Armored Saint, Faster Pussycat, Lizzy Borden, Metal Church, Rigor Mortis, Megadeth, Motörhead, and Alice Cooper, featuring Axl Rose, Slash, and Izzy Stradlin of Guns N' Roses.
