Love Streams is an 1984 American film by John Cassavetes that tells the story of a middle-aged brother, Robert Harmon (John Cassavetes) and sister Sarah (Gena Rowlands, John Cassavetes' wife ) who find themselves caring for one another after the other loves in their lives abandon them. Most of the movie takes place in the house of Robert (in reality, it was the house of John Cassavetes and Gena Rowlands in Los Angeles).
The visual style of the film is different from Cassavetes' other works, as it doesn't contain his trademark hand-held camera work.
The film is losely based on a 1980 play by Ted Allen. In the play, Jon Voight played the part of Robert.
This was John Cassavetes' eleventh film, and most of his fans consider it his final work even though Big Trouble came out in 1986.
