Yes I know I did a write up on this movie awhile back, but it deserves to be mentioned again.
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension is possibly one of THE cult movies.
It's one of the first I actually heard that term applied to.
I mean come on....Dr. Buckaroo Banzai....physicist, neurosurgeon, samurai, rock musician, jet car driver, and comic book hero.
Who couldn't love that?
And of course your hero can never be any good with out a great villian.
And what better villain is there than John Lithgow chewing up the scenery as Dr. Emilio Lizardo?
The only thing that ever bothered me about this movie was that with the elaborate set up and background story, it seemed as if they really were setting it up for a sequel.
And I think that sequel would have blown the original movie away.
Of course Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League never happened, but it still remains a great "what if" to me.
